1) Thunder and Lightning necessitates that contests be suspended. The occurrence of thunder and/or lightning is not subject to interpretation or discussion.

2) When thunder is heard and/or when lightning is seen, the following policies should be adhered to:

a) suspend play and direct participants to go to shelter, a building normally occupied by the public.

b) play shall be suspended for 30 minutes after the last boom is heard and/or strike is seen.

c) if thunder is heard and/or lightning seen during the 30 minutes, a new 30 minute waiting period must begin.

Please wear ONLY the circular New York State Soccer Official patch when officiating high school games. USSF, NISOA, FIFA or any other patch is NOT permissible.
