Fingerprinting Information

For the protection of pupils in educational settings from abuse and maltreatment, NYS law requires the fingerprinting of prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services. This includes sports officials.

The fingerprinting process is managed through BOCES, and the NYS Education Department (NYSED), and must be completed BEFORE you can be activated in the BOCES assignment system.

According to BOCES,  the cost of fingerprinting is approximately $102. You can pay online with a credit card, or by cash or check on-site at the time of your appointment.

There are several locations available to get fingerprinted in the New York City/Westchester/Putnam/Rockland area.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is your responsibility to verify your clearance with Stacy Chimento at BOCES (stchimento@swboces.org; (914) 922-3520). Please wait 1-2 days after submitting your fingerprints before verifying clearance (or if you are trying to transfer prints from another organization in NY State).
