Westchester-Putnam Approved Soccer Officials Association, Inc. |
One of the priorities of the SWBOCES/Section One office is to build and sustain communication with the groups that help us provide a vibrant educational experience for our student athletes. With the recent decision by the Section 1 Executive Committee to begin practices on Tuesday, September 29th our office began to examine how to best meet the scheduling and assigning needs of our member districts and local officials associations.
As a result of the delay to the start of the fall season and the amended practice requirements by NYSPHSAA, many schools were left with only two or three games on their existing schedules. Therefore, our office met yesterday to finalize our path forward as it pertains to the scheduling of games and officials for this upcoming fall season. Our process is outlined below:
Beginning Wednesday, September 9th, in the sports of soccer, field hockey, and tennis, the SWBOCES/Section One office will purge the existing fall game schedules and assignments from Sports Pak. As a result, all officials’ assignments will be removed and a new schedule will be built. In addition, we will be purging the existing modified official’s assignments to assist with the coverage of higher level contests.
No later than Monday, September 14th:
Once the new schedule has been built, officials will be assigned to the new schedules accordingly.
At this time, our current approach to scheduling is for HS sports only, which includes Varsity, JV and Freshman. We will keep you abreast of additional updates pertaining to the modified season and high-risk sports once it becomes become available. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during these unprecedented times.
Thank you,
SWBOCES/Section One Office Staff
